Krishnan Guru-Murthy first appeared on the BBC’s DEF II programme Open to Question in 1988, and later presented the BBC’s children’s news programme, Newsround from 1991 to 1994. After spending three years as a producer and reporter for BBC’s Newsnight he became one of the first presenters of the BBC’s then-new rolling news channel, BBC News 24.

After ten years at the BBC he joined Channel 4 in 1998. He anchors the Channel 4 Evening News from Friday to Sunday, and was the main anchor for the News at Noon on weekdays.

How did you break the addiction?

It can be quite addictive…but to be honest i don’t have time to become too hooked

Did you join Twitter for personal or professional reasons? How does it help/has it helped with your job?

For professional reasons – and yes it has helped, and we’re exploring new ways of using it, and I rather enjoy it for personal reasons too.

You’ve been involved in news reporting for quite a while now – how do you react to claims that it is dumbing down in general?

I think on the whole TV News is better than it has ever been. But some programmes are not what they used to be, and have gone downmarket.

Chris began stand-up in 1995, aged 23, and won the City Life Comedian of the Year that very same year! He subsequently performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, garnering Perrier Comedy Award nominations. Two of his shows were later adapted for Radio 4.

Chris has also written two books, both published by Hodder and Stoughton: “Cautionary Tales for Grown Ups” in 2006, followed by “It Wasn’t Me: Why Everybody is to Blame and You’re Not” in 2008. Books, vids, etc

Gail Porter first came to public awareness via her television presenting work on such programmes as “Fully Booked”, “The Movie Chart Show” and “Live and Kicking”. She shot to even greater heights after she began to pose for photos for mens magazines such as FHM, including a shot of her nude from behind that was beamed onto the side of the Houses of Parliament as a PR stunt.

Since 2005 Porter has suffered from Alopecia causing her to lose much of her hair, which she refused to hide with a wig but instead became a prominent figure in raising awareness of the condition. Her autobiography was published in 2007.
